Muslim teen leaves U.S. with new perspective

"As a Muslim student from a foreign country, 16-year-old Armieyah Ayob thought she might meet hostility and isolation here in the United States. But after spending a year as an active student at Wauwatosa East High School through the U.S. State Department's Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program for students from countries with sizable Islamic populations, Ayob, from the city of Cotabato in the Philippines, has a different view of the United States. That view became even more favorable after she had the chance to meet recently with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice - a fitting capstone for her journey to the U.S. Before heading back home to the Philippines, Ayob, who plans to study international relations and political science, took time out to speak with Journal Sentinel reporter Jamaal Abdul-Alim about her experience here."
