Welcome!
AFS is an international, not-for-profit organization that each year provides hundreds of American high school students the opportunity to live and study in a foreign land. Just as important, each year hundreds of American families host a high school age “son” or “daughter” from another country. With tens of thousands of volunteers worldwide, AFS is the leading international student exchange program in the world! The Milwaukee Area website focuses on the AFS related activities in the Milwaukee Area, extending from Port Washington to Racine. More than thirty area high schools currently participate.

Departure Information
After having spent the last 10 months adapting to new places, people and customs, the time is nearing for our AFS students to return to the familiarity of their home country, natural family and friends.
Upon arrival, students will register with their passport and have their luggage weighed and measured. Please adhere to the luggage guidelines and avoid the stress of having to repack or leave personal items behind. Students may bring up to two suitcases to be checked in addition to their carry on bag. Please weigh the suitcases at home before arriving. The suitcases may not weigh more than 50 lbs each. Students will not have access to luggage once it is checked and we recommend that they keep in their carry-on any items they might need during their end of stay activities and flight home.
